Thank you Linda,
I wonder if that is also true for Death Certificates?
I was really hoping a death certificate would provide her maiden name and parents. The name I have for her now is unverified, and I am very uncomfortable presenting data I have no documentaiton to source it.

Thank you for your information.

In regard to the birth cert you seek in Nebraska. I too have done extensive research and have found that many times no birth cert was ever filed. There was no birth certificate filed for my husband's father Joe, ca 1912, in Chicago. My mother in law filed the cert when it was needed for their marriage. I have found this in many instances in my Colorado relatives as well. I am guessing there was no law requiring a birth certificate. That would be a good topic for research!
