Interesting things happen when one blogs. Someone said," use phrases that catch the eye and the mind, get the readers attention." But my mind obviously does not work the way others do and it leaves some readers very confused, so I am told.
I mentioned in the last blog having a home for your research questions to go to, to roost. To help you wind your way through the maze of documents and data and information that is today presented to a family historian or genealogist.
Liking to think that our local society is my home for asking questions and getting guidance when I am not giving guidance. Home is basically a comfort zone and new researchers can be very intimidated quickly with so much information that is out there.
One's other home can be the society that is where your ancestor lived and the support, help and guidance they can give is so valuable. They are familiar with the court records, the documents and some times even your descendants down line kin.
So for those that read my previous blog and were lost it had to do with joining a society and having a home to go to for help as needed whether near your house or near your ancestors home of long ago.
