Christmas Ornaments yes I have some, some rather old some rather new. I bought a New Hallmark for a grandchild today, in hopes it will serve as warm memories over years.

Our first Christmas 50 years ago was spent apart. He was on Guam and I was with my family in California.
I was to go to Guam but change of command changed all those plans.

I shared Christmas with my family and as they upgraded their trimmings they would offer me the used items.
I was delighted to have something for the future that came from the past.
Aunt Ruth gave us after the season was over the blue bulbs and the tinsel tree that they decided to stopped using in the future. They wanted a live tree the next year.

As did my Aunt Etta do the same and my MOM gave us ornaments that they had. So we received these after the season was over as they packed up for the new year to come.

The second year found my husband at home and we were in Lemore NAS as plank members No.33.
The tinsel tree was brought to us by my Aunt and family along with my son's hand made chest for his clothes by his Uncle the carpenter. The chest is still in use yet by our grandson Zack.

Aunt Etta sent us a candy dish with homemade fudge and divinity, My parents gave us money for a roasting pan and some groceries, Hubbies parents gave us money for turkey and other items and a pumpkin pie. We had enough left over to buy our son a small chair for his gift from S, and of course family sent him gifts also, toy truck, teddy bear and a sweater.

The ornaments were round blue turquoise balls and the others from Mom were odd shaped, some were cupped also with reflecting interior to make the lights shine brighter. So our first tree together was tinsel and blue bulbs and we hung the two strings of lights in the dining room window since you could not put them on the tree.
We thought we had a great Christmas and we went to church. We shared our food with his buddies that did not have family on the base. They also brought things to share.

We still have the reflecting bulbs that did not break and some of the blue balls I no longer hang them on the tree but put in a crystal bowl given to us at our wedding to have it on display.

Aww how sweet! Somewhere I still have the little angel ornament that my best friend gave me in 2nd grade and the icycle (sp?) that I made in kindergrarden. This year my father bought me a 3ft pink artificial tree that I hope will be in the family for years to come.
