NBC News reported this afternoon that employees at Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, IL have been digging up graves and reselling the plots. In England it is becoming more and more common for graves to be leased for only 75 years, after which time the graves can be emptied and reused. As it is a fairly new practice I do not know what happens to the remains when the lease is up - perhaps someone else might know?

In Tennessee we finally have a law to prohibit that without the family's consent, and they are reinterred.
