Monday Madness and Blacksheep Ancestress Susan Madison

Susan Madison whom ma NOYES JONES is dangling in space for want of parents. I have worked with some Mattison researchers and we think we found the clan she belongs to but nothing concrete all conjecture.

Since her birth is listed 1818 on Tombstone and they have one born 1812 that could be her. Her birth place by her is MASS by family it rotates between VT MASS NY and one son wrote CT.

This area was in flux I am aware, so any of the first three are possible and can all be same… Continue

Letters Letters and why are we loosing them.

The other day I had a conversation with a family member about the importance of letters and how we are loosing them.

My parents required me to write to my Grandparents and Great grandmother when I was young and I am so glad I did.

I still write to many family members who do not use a computer. I do not know if MOM kept my letters but she used to have several that she had kept. We reviewed them last spring. Some day maybe I can take the important things from them for our… Continue

Wednesday's Cemetery Information" San Diego's Lost and Forgotten Cemeteries"

Today I went to a talk about cemeteries in San Diego County. Alas it was embarrassing to learn I have lived here for 35 + years this trip and to learn that as late as 1960's, Yes I was here then, that our city government and business people allowed people, groups and agencies to rip out head stones and destroy cemeteries. Keith's Resturant is on a cemetery, does anyone remember that. I think that the one missing in San Ysidro area is also paved over with free way or freeway interchange. A 95… Continue

Monday Madness is posted on Harvey Edward Foulk

Harvey was my Great Grandfather and a very interesting man he was. He was so interesting he disappeared.

Some time in the Mid 1930's Harvey decided to create a new life for himself and left his wife behind in Blackhawk Co. IA. The town of Washburn to be exact.

He came from good stock but he endured much in his life. I can almost understand the reason for the disappearance but it sure has become a stickler to locate his death records.

Land Deeds more reasons for looking for.

Land Deeds are so critical in research, Let us hope your kin had some.

The neighbors become your relatives, they may even be your ancestors.

Families only married into community people or church related people on the whole.

Even a first name with out a last may give you a clue.

Try say Addie Smith born in OHIO and she marries Mr. Flora.

NOW we find Mr. Flora and his family and can track this family and after his marriage to Addie and… Continue

Monday Madness and Tombstone Tuesday

Monday Madness was rather quiet. I had no luck looking for Shirley's William Wright in NY. Nor any luck looking for her Dexter Wright. It has been quietly driving us mad.

Dexter is the son of Henry and Phebe Wright whom is the son of William Wright and Orilla Wilson Wright.

1880 census has Dexter Wright in Bainbridge Chenango NY age 14 born about 1866

Father Henry born NY mother Phebe born NY

LAND DEEDS why do Researchers over look them?

Greetings everyone, I am sorta on a rant today. After listening to many people post their brick walls and discuss their lost connection, I just am amazed at how many times I hear them say, " I can not find them on the census."

What a shame we had census put on line before land records or tax lists. It seems young, old, new or seasoned researchers are placing way to much faith in Census Records.

1. Census Records may or may not be accurate.

2. We have no idea who gave… Continue
