I have an interest in the Donald Murray family of Kildonan and Stonewall. In 1901 an Eliza Iron was living with this family as a domestic; in 1906 Eliza Irons was living with Charles Murray a member of this family as his "adopted daughter" ; in 1911 Eliza Irons is a nurse at the Children's Home in Winnipeg under Lizzie G Proctor as Matron. She is there also in 1916 with Lizzie but in a few years both are gone - Lizzie back to Scotland and Eliza to Saskatoon. Lizzie Proctor adopted a boy born 1908 in Stonewall who she called William Proctor and took him back to Scoltland with her in 1919. In Lizzie's will of 1954 she leaves 25& to Eliza Irons of Saskatoon. The adopted son came back to Winnipeg for a year in 1925 but ultimately went back to Scotland and then became a tea planter in Ceylon. There is a story here - and if you or anybody can add to it I would be very interested.

Hello, William!
Welcome to the Red River Settlement group!
I was checking The Lord Selkirk Association of Rupert's Land database to see if you were there and what your connections were. But you aren't there! This is probably because you've never been a member. Have you ever checked TLSARL out? www.lordselkirk.ca
The Association was founded 100 years ago by descendants in an effort to preserve our history. If you are interested, email me through the contact form on the site, and I will send you a PDF brochure on what we do and how to become a member.
