As mentioned in a previous discussion, Oxfordshire Studies andOxfordshire Record Office are to merge later this year in modified premisesat St Luke's Church, Cowley.  There are proposed staff cuts which meanthe service offered would be a much restricted one compared with previously.Oxfordshire County Council has set up the format of e-petitions as part ofits ongoing commitment to listening to and responding to the views of thepublic.  An e-petition has been instigated by Malcolm Graham…See More

Hello Wendy

My great-great grandfather Charles Merriman moved to NZ in 1877. He married Mary Ann Miles in Headington, Oxford in Dec 1869. We are trying to make contact with Tracey Munro who left a message here on 16 Sept 2010,as we share the same Great Great grandfather Charles Merriman. If Tracey would make contact with me i can help her with some info and maybe she could help us also.Did you send a reply to Tracey at that time?

thanks

Hi Wendy, thanks so much for the message!
I'm from New Zealand but I'm living in Berkshire UK at the moment so I've recently started trying to trace my family back to our UK heritage. My great-great grandfather Charles Merriman moved to NZ in 1877. I believe he married Mary Ann Miles in Headington, Oxford in Dec 1869. I'd love to find out more about his life and family in the UK, any ideas where would be a good place to start?
Thanks so much!

Hi Wendy
I wondered if you could clarify something please. In 2007 I bought the WIT01 CD from the Holford Centre. I have been putting in a concerted effort to record all my BUCKINGHAM ancestors so have been trawling through the CD. I have been adding lots of marriages and have come across a comment elsewhere that marriages took place In Hailey but were recorded in Witney register only. Is this true and if so how can you tell where they took place ? I see some have both parties places of residence as Hailey are these the Hailey marriages?
One other question could you please tell me if the Hailey marriages from 1854 have been transcribed or are only the originals available. Thanks Robyn
