For what reason did you start genealogy research?

My parents divorced when I was very young and so I grew up looking like my lost father's Italian family, but not knowing anything about them. It's amazing how your genetics can have such a strong pull. I've been researching on and off for years, belong to SAG, and have trawled through many microflims etc looking for my elusive Italian relatives, so I'm probably at a more advanced level than intermediate. I do however need to properly collate a mountain of collected records and information! My challenge has been great with one great grandfather arriving in 1886 from Palermo, Sicily, and one arriving even earlier from Chili. I'm now helping other family members with their searches and finding it so rewarding, though at times frustrating!
