For what reason did you start genealogy research?
Very interested in Family history.Have one ?x Grandfather with a name change in Ireland due to activity in rebellion believe about 1840s want to know more! There are Old family stories that our Moores are the ones who lived at the bridge where the first battle in Virginia took place during the Revolution and that there is association with the Madison family. The names seem the same but there is a missing generation between last PROVEN 2x GreatGrandfather and this Virginia based family. There's been several couples sugested as his parents but I haven't been able to prove any , but I have been able to DISPROVE a few, My Claytons, Coleman, Pendleton line is the one which is associated with Culpeper Co, Virginia and Saint Mark's Parish I n the books by Dr. Slaughter. ( one of his Ggmas was a sister to one of my ?x ggm)
I am not particularly interested in claiming my Ancestors for status or just to add to the number of people my tree, I am just interested in knowing which ones were truely mine and which ones are my husband's lines. There's a bunch of names that may actually be from the same families if not the direct line. One proven instance is that my GGF Thomas Casey provided troop support at the makeshift hospital at one battle of the revolution ( I think Guilford Courthouse) and guess what? The building which was used for the hospital belonged to my husbands family! Just found that out 200 plus years later!
