my Alexander had a father James who had father AND grandfather named John. All from Kilmaurs. Alexander went out to Australia in 1857.. His sister Margaret married a McClean and then a McDonald; There was a son John McClean.... Lot's of Johns!
I saw your interest in Kilmaurs. I'm related to an Alexander Muir of Kilmaurs who married Mary McCredie on Jan 1 1858 in Sydney. Are they in your tree? Tom Murphy
