For what reason did you start genealogy research?

I know very little about my mother's side of the family-especially her mother's-but I seemed to have picked up an "Ohio accent" even though I lived in Indiana all my life. I always thought it would be neat to be Native American and wonder if Grandma may have had a little of that in her.
