For what reason did you start genealogy research?

My cousin Carol died and was buried on her daughter's seventh birthday. I looked at that little girl, Stephanie and wondered who would teach her about our family. I decided that I would research our family and put the story together so she would know from where she came and would have a story to pass on to her children one day. We come from a large family. Stephanie's grandmother was my father's twin sister Marge. Marge was child number 15 and my father was number 16 and the last child. There was a big story to tell.
