The American Pomeroy Historic Genealogical Association (APHGA) identified an error in the pagination sequence of the microfilmed copies of the 1820 US Federal Census. These errors relate to the towns of Manlius, Cicero and Lysander in Onondaga County, New York, and were discovered while attempting to verify the location of the Spencer Pomeroy and Lucy Pomeroy households.

The APHGA’s research indicated that both of these Pomeroy families should have been living in Manlius, N.Y., but… Continue

Hi Nancy thanks for your response. It is interesting that Your Higgins were in the same area as the ones who married my Byrne or Burns only 50 years or so apart. Are you familiar with Cazenovia? My James Byrne's kids are buried there except for two. One was buried with him and his wife in the mass grave in Assumption and the other is buried at St Mary's. Thanks again.

Jim

Hi there - On Sept 29 I left a couple comments for you about the Higgins family in Syracuse. Don't believe I got a response. Hope all is well.

I wrote a little while ago about Higgins and Byrne or Burns. Seems I have more than I thought. William Higgins b. ca 1856 in Ireland married Catherine Byrne (Burns) b, ca 1860 in Ireland. Their children Anna, Catherine, Mary, John, Lucy, Dora, Andrew, Margaret, James. Gertrude and William J.

Catherine and William are on the 1880 census with their two children living with her parents. James Burns and Catherine O'Broderick.

Would be nive to find a cousin

Hi Nancy - did any of your Higgins marry a Byrne or Burns? One of my grgrandfather's sisters married a Higgins. Her name would have been Mary or Catherine. My grgrandfather was James Byrne b. May 1842 and died 1934. He was born in Ireland but lived in Syracuse and Cazenovia most of his life. He and wife Margaret Ford and daughter Annie were buried in St Jospeh's but now lie in the mass grave at Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse,
