Alzheimers is an awful thing and hope I never get it. I have enough memory issues with my disease and don't need to add to it.
Wow, Jane's G Grandfather was really important, lucky him. I don't remember the name and just watched a short flik on George Washington yesterday and they did a little about his war times and growing up.
I was thinking of Jane yesterday and thought of this. What if Jane met someone and took off and remarried and this is why no one can find her, different surname.....A thought. Since you are better than me at this I am wondering what your opinion is.
How long have you been working on your ancestry?
I'll be working on Ancestry later this morn to add more stuff and see if I can find new stuff.

Wow, you are good at this stuff. Who is Jane's grandfather, I assume her mother's father. When was he in Bunker Hill? Thanks so much for sharing and keep it coming. I'm intrigued. Sure loving the stories and family history.
I loved going to CT when I was a kid and seeing my family. I remember my Uncle Joe and his wife, my grandmother's sister, Harriette. I just forgot the surname. And my G Grandparents where the best. There was another older couple I use to visit but I forget their names and they are family, maybe my grandfather's sister. One sister died young, hit by a car while she was riding her bike, trying to figure out which one and where buried. I went to the cemetery one time when I was apx 8 yrs old.
I think I'm off the computer for the night so I'll catch up with you tomorrow.
Take care

George lived to be 91 and his wife passed away apx 3 yrs before him I do believe.
I wonder if Jane's family was visiting CT and went to VT found out she was pregnant and shipped her to Eli. Makes sense, another very possible scenario. Looks like I'm not getting my grandmother's address. I will try again through someone else. I am the black sheep of the family and don't speak to anyone so I have to go through my children and my children have to ask family members and either my children don't want to be involved or no one wants to give them the info since it is being transfer to me. Long story. I would love to have some photos also and I know she has some, Mary Baker, Norman's wife.
I tripped over your Chapman name on Ancestry today. Still sounds familiar. I think I had aunts and uncles that where Chapman.
Have a super wkend,
Spirit

I caught what I wrote aft I sent it and reread your note for the upteenth time and understood. Pomfret aye, use to go there often. I don't understand George's last home being in Brooklyn, I think that was it, thought it was Pomfret. I have the street address and would like to drive there sometime. When George passed away my grandmother refused to give me the address said I had no business bothering the people who bought the home. But there where hand prints in the driveway I wanted and I knew the driveway was going to be torn up. I was very upset, still am. 16, wow, I saw they where together at 18. Do you know why or how they ended up in CT. Not likely to have been penpals. Can you email me a copy of John's certificates and Eli's marriage certificate? I looked for her maiden name for a little bit yesterday and couldn't find it. Either I'm not using Ancestry properly or the library has a different edition and a little limited. When I tried it before it seemed like I got more out of it at home.
Thanks

I was starting to follow the Eli from Oswego since they had children aft John was born.
Now I see why my hour of searching this morn I couldn't find Levi.
Who did Levi and John live with when Eli was at war and then died? I found John with a Sherman family. Jane just left her sons behind?
I was thinking Jane came from VT and not NY myself and thinking they met up in CT and oops happened and they quickly married. How do you like that theory?
Thanks for continuing to write to me. Do you live in CT? What town? Did you look at my family site? I have SO much more to do with my paternal family. Many Baker's are getting DNA tested, $350 a pop, wow.

I don't have any photos, sorry. I don't speak to my grandmother. Maybe I should write her. I know someone who may have her address.
I don't know who John's siblings where. You have John Edgar and I have John Ezra but Ezra was a guess somehow. Yours may be correct since John's son is George Edgar Ely Baker.
I have John as deceased 1 Jan 1909. I have John b 1859.
George has his birth date as 22 Aug 1890 and 1891 according to WW I and WW II registrations.
This Baker line is so confusing. It is just as difficult as trying to figure out which Wm Armstrong came off the boat.
Please keep in touch and if you have any questions please ask,

Hi Mike,

I tried for over 2 hrs to connect to your family line in Ancestry and couldn't at the library. I needed a password and the library is too shorthanded to assist since the 3 employees standing 5' away from me where very busy talking about the new and different rebates the government is offering and who is going to purchase what.
I don't have Ancestry at home so I can't access it.
The only thing I could find was very basic infantry info about Eli signing up.
Here is my family link: http://bakerarmstrong.tribalpages.com
Obviously I am going to have to fix a couple of things now but there is info about John's son, George's family.
Anything you can share would be great.
Sincerely,
Spirit

Hi Michael,

I leaving for the library shortly to look you up on Ancestry.
My Great Great Grandfather is also named John Edgar. John's son is George Edgar Ely, my Great Grandfather. George's son Norman is my grandfather who moved from CT to MA. He married Mary unknown in CT.
Are we on the same page together? Are we family?
And seeing the name Chapman peaked my interest. I forget who had that name.
Thanks bunches, have a huge smile on my face.
Spirit
