I read through your blog, and about your DNA test.  It is very interesting.  In my line, Lewis descendants went to New Jersey, and many years later they lived in Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas.  The surname Doty is also in my tree, but not my direct ancestor.

Welcome to Lewis.  Besides having an ancestor, Simeon B, Lewis, b. 1799, from Virginia, I have another line of Lewis.  Thomas Lodowyck Lewis (Lewes) of 1600's in New York.  He may be a son of the Lewis in New England. Thomas was a mariner.  He married Geesje Barents in Albany, New York.  I have more information on Thomas and the Lewis in New England.  Researchers say Thomas was from Ireland, but I have doubts.  Thomas had an interesting son who deserves his own post, although he was a sibling to my direct line, Catharina, who married Popinga, which is Dutch for Parrot.  I found a Capt. Parrot in Virginia about the same time.  I need to post this information at the Lewis Group.
