For what reason did you start genealogy research?
my father's diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, coupled with the death of my last survivng grandparent left me acutely aware of my responsibility to my children and to future generations, I began a written record of all those stories, histories, anctedotes etc. that make up the oral history of my family and when I needed to fill in some of the blanks, geneology became the next step.

I don't have a George Hawkins. But I have very little information about there Hawkins. My great grandfather came from Georgia. Married a Lucinda Mariah Henderson. Can get very little information on the rest.
Thank you for your comment and invitation to be a friend here. I am not sure that your Cantwell's are connected to ours, but it is always worth checking into. My grandfather's grandmother was Ida Letitia Cantwell, born in Princess Anne, Somerset, Maryland in June 1856, daughter of John H. Cantwell (born in Maryland in 1814) and Eunice Holt (born in Delaware in 1819)
I forgot to ask about Burns. My grgrandparents were James Burns and Margaret Ford. Both from Ireland. He came to this country in 1845 and came through Boston to Worcester and finally to Syracuse and Cazenovia NY. James served in the Irish Brigade in the Civil War.
Hi - Did your Darling family come through Vermont? The Vermont Historical Society has a 44 volume handwritten set of books about the Darlings. They are cross - indexed. I believe the Mormons has copied them. I also have some Darling tombstone pictures from Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier. I am not related to them, just did some research on them for others.
