Just checking, but I'm pretty sure you have the FindaGrave record for Maria Chavez Aguirre.

Hello Joanne,

I would appreciate any help! I have not checked Dona Ana films. I had contacted Ariz Historical Society and received no help...the gentleman said he was out of town, then there was construction, and then no response.

The people I am looking for are German Chaves/z and Maria Nieto (wife?). I had found through the church a confirmation record for my gr-grandmother, Teodora Chaves (b.1881), but no other records for her or her parents (named above). I had traveled to the church where this occurred, only to be referred elsewhere. I am sure you know that Solomonville was called Pueblo Viejo originally...those seem to be the records that are missing within the church/diocese.

Now here is the twist with this family...I obtained the names German Chaves & Maria Nieto from Teodora's 14 children baptismal records. Teodora had told her children that she was really (a.) the illegit child of W.R. McCormick (m. to Leandra Luna)...also with Dona Ana/Solomonville connections; (b.) that her father had left her mother and was raised by the McCormick's. She said her mother was a maid to the family, which I have found no evidence of this family having the ability to have a maid. I have found no true link to this family, only that their son was a witness to her marriage and godfather to 1 of her 14 children.

So the question is, am I chasing phantoms? If you can find anything, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

(sorry if I rambled on there)
