Welcome Brian to the Glamorgan Group. There is a Somerset group too. You wouldn't be a good Family historian if you didn't wander down unexpected paths. Lets' hope that you soon resolve some of your mysteries anyhow. Best wishes Jill

Cardiganshire: DAVIES, Benjamin a clothier and Sara [his daughter]
Montgomery: EDWARDS, Thomas.

Somerset, around Congresbury, Yatton & Kenn: KNIGHT, NETHWAY, GOSLING, PERRIS and PAYNE.
What countries and other locations are you interested in researching?
Wales, ie Glamorgan, Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and England, North Somerset
What is your level of genealogy knowledge?
Advanced Family History Researcher
For what reason did you start genealogy research?
Always been interested in the past. My father had tried to research his origins, which I hadn't known about until way after his death. When my Mum was very ill, she gave me a slip of paper with the names of her grandparents and I wanted to fulfil her obvious wish that I research these surnames. Both my parents would be very very interested in what I have discovered, but what a pity I hadn't started earlier, so that they would have been able to add to details and share my pleasure in my findings.

Some of my Favourite Genealogy websites - Jill

Have you ever thought of having a genealogy website?
Pat Geary has excellent advice on her site on how to set about creating Genealogy websites.

Do try this out.
It is here.

As Microsoft's Frontpage support came to an end, they brought out a new program called Expression Web. It is a great program and EW version 3 is just out.

Take a look at Pat Geary's Expression Web Tutorials and Expression Web Tips.

Thank you for the invite Jill. At the moment the family I have found are in the Reading and Wokingham area so I am not in your part of Old Berkshire. I have had a look at your website though - very interesting. I will bear in mind for the future.

Best wishes

Janet

How do I take the Hunlock Creek out of my profile? That's really all I needed to do about that address. Thanks.

Hi Jill,
I just didn't want my home address posted on here. Other than that every thing is fine. As of today I still have not found out my great grandmother's maiden name. You would think after 20 years of research, I would have found something.

Thank you for the invitation. I am in Letchworth Garden City, North Hertfordshire. We visited Aberdare while on holiday last Summer and found one of the graves we had been looking for, which was a great help - didn't realise how enormous Aberdare Cemetery was and were grateful for the help of 2 of the cemetery workers. Researching James, Hill and Griffiths from Aberdare, all colliery workers. The James family very possibly came from LLanboidy - waiting for confirmation.
Regards

Thanks, Jill, for the invitation to join your group. My family is from Glan Conwy, just over from Angelsey and from Llanegryn near Towyn. I don't have any connections with South Wales.

Hi Jill. My Knights were stonemasons and builders in Chertsey (Surrey) throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with brief forays into neighbouring parishes. An early settlement examination implies that a Thomas Knight served an apprenticeship in Stamford (Lincs) from about 1789, though he may not have completed the apprenticeship as he married in Chertsey in 1794. I have found a possible baptism in Stamford in 1770, though have not yet proved a link with the Chertsey family. Hope that helps, Bob.

Hi Jill. I would like my physical address removed. Just the Hunlock Creek and zip code. Pa. is fine. It's only for security reasons since I have my full name on here, I hope you understand. I do like writing to you and wish to continue to do so.
In answer to my great grandmother, she wasn't in this country very long. I'm pretty sure she went back to England around 1893. The census burned for the year 1890. I'm thinking she went back to Durham. She did have a son George Davison/Davidson that I was told she went back with.
Where are you from Jill ?
Have a great day,
Beth
