Hi Jennifer- On Footnote.com, I'm seeing some information on a Willis Hancock who was a Private in the 59th GA Infantry, Co. K. Let me know if this is a possibility, and I'd be happy to see what records are available for him.

P.S. In the 1880 census (attached earlier), the line just below W.L. (ae 37) and family has entry for Lucretia Ellis, ae 62; she is a widowed farmer, b. NC/NC/NC. I note that W. L. Ellis reports he was born at Georgia, but that both of his parents…

Hi Jennifer. I'm wondering where your Chambers line is from. So far, I have traced mine back to Florida. They are actually my husband's family. I'd like to know if we can connect through them. Heather Chambers

I found a listing for Willis Hancock as a private in the 59th Georgia Infantry Regiment, Lockett Volunteers of Bibb County on May 16, 1862 with the comment "appears only on roll for June 165, 1862." (http://www.geocities.com/confederate_cause/Muster-Roll-59th-GA-Inf-CompanyK.htm)

His headstone confirms that he was a member of the 59th Georgia Regiment. The church may have some documentation.
