"R1b1b2a1a2 this is my brothers DNA. I was told our Jones family may have been in Cumberland County, North Carolina around 1750. I have not been able to verify this. I am looking for the father of Evan Jones born 1793. Thanks for any help. Jean"

"Thanks, Jackie.  Based on migration routes and naming patterns, we seem to be deadlocked between Cumberland and Jones counties.  I will definitely be considering the DNA testing."

"He claimed "Marlboro(ugh)"...and he was very specific about NORTH Carolina.  Unfortunately there are several possible locations that may have been Marlboro during his lifetime.  I lean toward east coast in the New Hanover now…"

South Alabama Joneses

Our early Alabama Joneses came from "Marlboro" NORTH Carolina. Our earliest proven is Daniel Jones, b 1809, m to Mary Jane Parker, b 1812, NC, married Lowndes Co, Al 1832. All their children married into early American families, several proven American Revolution patriots.
