Hi Guy,
The Hicks side are my hubby's family. I have traced his line back to the late 1700s in Wales. About the late 1850-early 1860s, they migrated to Yorkshire England and that is where the majority of that line was located. We have managed to find a relative and family here in Canada and one still in Yorkshire so that was neat. I joined Genes Reunited in the UK and have found two other relatives - one in Yorkshire na dthe other in Austalia and we have exchanged trees.

Hi Guy,
Interesting that your Stillwells were in MI as well. This family descends from Thomas Blakely Stillwell and Elizabeth Heistand/Hestand. Thomas was a Baptist Clergyman in Ontario and he had Elizabeth had 9 children, the eldest of whom was John who married my g-grand aunt, Maria Smyth. They had 11 children and I have nanaged to trace them all except one who I think died early. The last 3 were born in MI. They settled first in Vermont, Eaton Co. MI and a short time later moved to Big Rapids where John owned a furniture making business called J. Stillwell and Sons. Three sons, I have found, were employed in the business. Another son graduated from U of M in 1888 and went on to Law at Ann Arbour. After John died in 1894, it is thought that Maria came back to Canada to be with her father as her mother had passed. In the meantime, the children were making their way to CA. The Lawyer was practising in Kansas for a time but later moved to CA as well as did Maria after her father passed, and they are for the most part buried there.

Hi Guy,

Interested in your STILLWELL and HICKS connections. My hubby is the Hicks and was from Yorkshire England originally. The Stillwells married into my Smyth family in Ontario Canada. They migrated to MI and CA.

I am especially interested in the Jenks and the Ostrander families. I am interested in linking up my Ostrander family with those in the Ostrander Big Book but am having difficulty doing so. Any information would be appreciated.
