You can try Family Tree DNA to see if they have anyone signed up or not. Go to http://www.familytreedna.com/Default.aspx?c=1 and under Surname search enter Layton and see if any groups show up.

DNA Testing Companies

I am in the process of evaluating companies to test my DNA. I was wondering if anyone could give me some guidance on which company to use. There are a large number of tests and a lot of money can be invested. Any help appreciated.See More

I don't recall that question coming up in school. I have been on-and-off interested in genealogy all my life none-the-less. Have you had your DNA analyzed? I understand it will give you an idea of your greater family origins.
