For what reason did you start genealogy research?

Together with my family I have reserched most of my own
family history. Just filling in the gaps really, work that started
over 40yrs ago by my father's cousin. Now my husband wants me to trace his Irish ancesters. This is not so easy due to lack of information ie:- Wrong place of birth given in Bristol
