Emiko,
I wish that I could say I'd found the people you ask about, but unfortunately, I am new at this African American and slave research. I have seen a great many Lanier's during this quest to help a friend find her ancestors. If you have any pointers or advice, I'd be happy to hear it!! So far I cannot find Blount MCCray/McCrary/McCravey prior to 1900 in censuses, etc. All I've found are directories showing him in Memphis,TN as he worked for the railroad and listed on Mary's Freedmen's Bank record as her husband. I cannot even connect them to the person we "think" to supposedly be Blount's son. Perhaps we never will. But I would truly love to help my friend do this somehow. The connection to LANIER'S was that Mary was listed there on the Plantation on the Freedmen's Bank record. And I've not been able to locate any more info , I had help in Huntsville with looking for info too and it was suggested by the genealogical or historical society that possibly Mary was deeded down to Mrs Lanier's son Burwell. No clue where to go next with this..... If I should come across any info to help you, I will surely send it to you, good luck with your research, Lisa
