I am looking for the Kramer family from Sint Jacobiparoche, Het Bildt, Friesland, Netherlands. 9 September 1863 birth of Sytske Kramer. I found her birth record scan online. She died in Racine, Wisconsin (Susan DeYoung) in 1889 of Typhoid fever. Her father was Aart Betzes Kramer and her mother was Maartje Klazes Dijkstra. I was wondering if this family immigrated from Germany? I have a friend who is a Kramer and they were from Germany.

I haven't done any specifically family tree or genealogy scrapbooking, but I have done some digital layouts with old family photographs my aunt scanned and sent me, She found some photos of my great grandmother, and of my grandmother and her sister as young women.

Douwe Harmense, who eventually adopted Talma or Taelman as a surname, came from Friesland. I always heard he was from Harlingen, but Sylvia Binch Talma says he was born in Buitenpost.

Hi Elisabeth....How could I be an Arsenault and not be interested in PEI?!?!? LOL....Most of my research has been in Quebec on my side of the family, but I do have to make it back to PEI for additional research pre-1860's back to the founding of the island. So many relatives there, so little time! LOL....

Have a great day!

Hi
Nice to hear from you. We are just outside Mount Stewart. We are both from England originally. We have been on PEI for just over two years. Spent 4 years in New Brunswick before that. Haven't found much genealogical activity in PEI.

Treasures on the World Wide Web

While doing research on the branches of my family tree, sometimes I come across a little bit of

"treasure". Not a real treasure, but some interesting information or sometimes even a picture.

Recently I was doing some searching on a Klaas Jansen Heixan (my mothers great - great- great - great - great -great grandfather) and came upon the following

This particular branch of the family tree were Silversmiths.

Klaas Jansen Heixan was born on August 11, 1678 in Dokkum, Friesland, and… Continue

A Visit to Pier 21

Posted on July 18, 2009 at 7:00pm 0 Comments

We recently traveled to Halifax, Nova Scotia and visited Pier 21 - Canada"s Immigration Museum.

Between 1928 and 1971 1.5 million immigrants - war brides, displaced people, evacuee children and Canadian military personnel who passed through Pier 21 , among them my father in law on his first visit to Canada in the early 50's.

pier 21 2 For those that consider visiting pier 21, I would highly suggest the guided tour. It is very informative and it takes you through all the stages that… Continue
