Still looking for GGrFA James A. Reynolds born 1863 in Pennsylvania (probably Philadelphia), married Elizabeth Richter in 1884 and had 3 children before they divorced in 1884. She remarried. James apparently deserted the family. The tow oldest…

I am looking for my great-great grandfather, Charles Richter (a dentist) born 1842 in Germany and died 19 April 1885 while living with my great grandparents, James and Lizzie Reynolds at 915 McKean St (Ward 1) in Philadelphia, PA... all info found on his death certificate and the 1890 Philadelphia City Directory. I have been unable to out anything more on Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.com, or World Vital Records. I have traced Lizzie through her divorce from James, her second marriage to William…See More
Hi Lorry Wolfe:
Good stuff! Thank you.
You wrote, " in the 1920 and 1930 census."
Believe we have the 1920 census for both of the boysr. Click HERE.
Earlier you wrote, "Lizzie did remarry shortly after her divorce was final in July…
It pays to go back over notes for anything you might have missed before! I found a note my Mother had written to a professional genealogist that gave two new addresses where she had lived as a child, but no dates.
On the 1910 census, I have Robert,…

Gene,
I will work on Directories tomorrow. I will be doing errands tomorrow and traveling Friday, but will be taking the Reynolds part of my genealogy work with me to work on it with my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter.
Have a relaxing Labor…
Gene, This is quite weird. The Richters living with William Hoehn do not come from the same Richter family that I believe were my ancestors. Neither names or ages fit. I wonder if they are grandchildren of one of the older children of Charles…
Gene,
Katherine Rice, dau of Charles Rice and Elizabeth Stile married Robert Reynolds in Feb 1907 and she gave birth to my mother, Catherine, on Aug 15, 1907.
I have located the 1910 census entry for Charles and Elizabeth (Stile) Rice and am…
Hi Lorry:
I am still in search of the 1900 census noted in my earlier post this date.
In the 1910 census, William Hoehn (with wife, Annie, apparently Annie [___]), was a bartender. In the collection, "U.S. City Directories," Ancestry has…
Hi Lorry,
See the item just above for the apparent 1910 census that appears the family otherwise of Robert Charles Reynold's inlaws.
Separately, I pulled another 1910 census. This appears the record of Lizzie's widower, William Hoehn,…
Hi Lorry:
At the time this Elizabeth died, her eldes son, Robert Charles Rynolds, would have been 19 years old and the family group report indicates he had married Katherine Rice just earlier that year, on 27 Feb 1907; by the end of that year,…
Finding a full set of the Philadelphia City directories is helpful. Ditto, to the extent we can, identifying Elizabeth/Lizzie and James in those directories is equally helpful. Knowing that lived at the same addess in 1890 is very helpful. Hopefully…
P.S. to my note just below. I never did find the long comment that was sent. Ugh!
Hope, however, the relevant parts will make their way as a reply to your challenge, REYNOLDS black sheep astray. --GJ
Hi Lorry:
Thank you for the additional notes. I'm going to post two census records dtd 1910 that I located at sn orphanage.
I think your challenge will benefit if we try to comment back and forth as part of your challenge at Most Wanted, rather than personal page to personal page.
I'll also know that information you post there was intended for public consumption. The family group sheet is now posted there, too.
In particular, hope you'll post to Most Wanted your comments of "1:46pm on August 28, 2009." . Several other challenges right now involve Philadelphia records.
I better get those census posted now. Thanks again--GJ
Yeah! I was able to import the gedcom into another genealogical program. For FGS, I use a particular program that outputs to MSWord and allow for entry about detailed events.
Working with the files now, many thoughts. Will post some things to your challenge shortly. --GJ
Hi Delores: Have talked dear Gwenda's ear off about the Preston family. I really did go on and on.
Many things to send to her; learned much about the Preston show. TYTYTYT. GJ
Hi again Delores Wolfe from Strafford, VT!
Did you know that my ancestor was an early settler at Strafford! Yes, yes! His name was William Preston, wife Hannah Healey. They are both buried there. The family was published as part of the project, Vermont Families in 1791. Their son, also my ancestor, also William, stayed behind, living out his life at Rumney, Grafton Co., NH
Okay now... you wrote, "Am unable to copy family sheet for James Reynolds."
There is more than one way to slay a dragon. As I recall, you are using Roots Magic 3, right? What happens when you try to generate the FGS from RM3? Does it generate a text file? A rft file? A pdf file?
While I wait to hear back form you, I'll work again to see if I can get something more from the gedcom you posted earlier. --GJ
