W. Thomas Stack, Jr. replied to Claude P Perry II's discussion 'Sinclair research site' in the group Clare/de Clare and Sinclair Surnames
My Sinclair lineage goes back to the founding of the colony of New Hampshire, where most of my line is documented, but back to Scotland I have a problem to make the connection. Love to share with anyone who might have the same lineage.

The Magna Carta Connection

Just about everyone in the United States tends to find an ancestral line that leads us back to the "Old World". Some may find they hold a very distant relationship with British Royalty. Some may even go as far back as Charlemagne or even further. Being a history buff, I tend to pause in my research sometimes to find out what was going on when so and so was living.

Take, for example, when I was doing some research on the Honorable R. Hudson Burr. For those of you who may not recognize… Continue

A cousin is a cousin is a cousin. Or are they?

When one is adopted at an early age, one tends to think of the people that raised you into adulthood as your parents. Any nieces and nephews of your parents are automatically assumed to be your cousins. Just like any normal blood related family would, correct?

Such is the case with myself and my sister. Both of us were born in the Philippines. She in Quezon City in February of 1968, and me in Manila in March of 1967. Both of us knew, from the time we were old enough to understand,… Continue

Claude, I noticed that you are a member (admin) of both the Wakefield and Matthews groups. How do the two families connect in your line - I just started a discussion in the Wakefield group which explains mine.

Hi,
It's a small world! I also have Grant lineage from Scotland (started Discussion in your Grant group), but what I am amazed by is this . . .
My Grants are through my mother, and went to Canada, then Massachusetts. . .
Your Grants went to Evansville, IN which is where my father was from! His mother was a Baskett, and that family line was there for a couple of generations before hers. So if, in your research on Grants, you ever run across any info on Baskett, Clevelin, or McCarthy, I would appreciate you forwarding it to me. I will gladly return the favor by forwarding and/or posting any info I come across on the Scottish/English origins of your Grant line. Thanks!

Thank you for the invited. My grandmother, Rhoda Duncan (B: 1780) married into the Goins family, through James John Goins (B: 1790 D: 1856).

If this is your line, please advise me.

Thank you.
