February 2013 Updates at Texas - Trails To The Past

There was not much activity for the state in February. The month was filled with a lot of personal stuff. I also spent time helping a friend begin her family research. Please keep an eye on the Guerrero – Vasquez Family History page under “Family Research” on the Texas home page. I am excited about this project because it is my first project related to researching families of Hispanic, African American, Native American, Chinese, Japenese, etc. descent. Hopefully, this will grow into a major…See More

Help Wanted Transcribing Public Domain Books About Texas History

I have several ebooks about Texas (or a particular area of Texas) that I would like to transcribe / format for posting on the Texas county pages at Trails To The Past. All of these books are in the ‘public domain’ (not copyrighted) and were written in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. The books contain history about the state, Texas counties and cities as well as biographies (hundreds of them) about those who were instrumental in the formation of Texas as we know it today. I am currently…See More

Good morning!
I started added some information and photos last night. It's going to take me awhile to get the hang of it, but I think it's a pretty intuitive site! :)

My Shoemaker clan is closely allied with the Vanderpools and I was told we were of Dutch-German heritage. The first record I have is William Riley Shoemaker 1775-1847 born in Maryland and died in Virginia, married Phebe Ann Spencer. One child Jacob 1816-1902 (in Kentucky) who married Katherine E. Kaiser and had a son Andrew. Andrew 1845-1934 married Margaret Evelyne Baker and fathered David Thomas 1872-1928 (South Lebanon, OH). David was my grandfather. He married my grandmother, Phoebe Evaline Vanderpool. My mother was Laura Emily Shoemaker Newton. I have more concise dates on some of these if you are interested.
