I have been researching for over twenty years, member of, Vice Regent of the DAR here in Mohave County, travel agent who specializes in the UK (had two group tours to Scotand 2017), and have registered my Hunter surname in 2015 with the Guild of One-Name Studies.
For what reason did you start genealogy research?
After researching my Hunter surname I knew that my lineage was to the Lairds of Hunterston Castle in Scotland and have been researching my Hunter surname ever since. This time worldwide, but mainly Scotland.

Coal Valley News (Madison, WV) - Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Mary Jane Hunter, 81, of Uneeda, formerly of Alkol passed away on November 10, 2012 at Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison.

She was born January 24, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Elisha and Eva Smith Meadows. She was also preceded in death by one son, Samuel Elisha Hunter.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Bias of Uneeda with whom she made…

Perthshire had 339 Hunters in 1881, our surname only making number 65 out of the top 200 in Perthshire.  This made it the 11th largest concentration in the 33 Scottish counties at that time.
