Debra Reese said… Sorry I havnt responded in so long. We have been very busy here. P.W. Reese was my Grandpa's brother - my Dad's Uncle. It is an interesting account he left us. And it is quite a mystery for me where it leaves loose ends dangling like that. It's an ongoing frustration for me.
Debra Reese said… He was a Civil War Veteran. Sorry for the confusion.
Debra Reese said… Some believe he was a Civil War vet. Others have referred to him as a Col. I have found a few sources that seem to verify at least that he did serve. Example: You can visit the site , view the tree, and delve into the saved source links there. You will find several links providing such info on William Lewis. I even saw one of his sons also listed in this war.

Debra Reese said… PS All that I know about the King, Dearth and Bowen families is with my tree at ancestry. I too would love to know more about them! Deb
Debra Reese said… Hi, Just read your comments on my Wall! Hadn't gone there till after I replied to your initial comment and friend invite! I am so thrilled to make your acquaintance! We are closly related! Promise me we will stay in touch! I was fortunate enough to come across another great great grandson-in- law of William Lewis Reece's son named:
who had:
Helen Mary Reese 1903 - ?
Who married a Platzer and her son is Robert Platzer!
Everything you mentioned about our 3rd Great Reece Grandparents and beyond I share with you completely! Its all quite a mystery. We have William Lewis Reece's son Philip Walter Reece's personal account recollecting back to Henry's father being named a William and that he was killed while building a log home in a certain area. But have little actual sources to prove these folks past William Lewis Reece. Thats a good idea about Henry's mother possibly being a maiden VanBuren. Several of us who share these Grandparents share the brick wall you too have come too. Philip Walter Reece's account leaves much to ponder. Such as Henry's Father, William's, burial place- possibly a Sheets family plot !!!. I wish someone could go there- the area- inquire to prove out these things. I hope. Till then, do you have a tree(made public) on ancestry.com which you might invite me as a guest viewer of? From the ancestry.com site we could exchange regular emails to stay in touch? Will be excited to hear back from you there and we can compare nots on any not so distant relatives we have in common. Thanks, Cusin Deb
Debra Reese said… Welcome! Curious as to your Reese heritage of course. Do you have a tree posted somewhere? Would like to learn more and compare notes sometime! Deb
