Don't know who you spoke to but there is a branch of the Bean family who are I think basically totally uninterested in their history. I have met with similar rebuffs in the past and it is annoying as they have some interesting artifacts from my grandfather. They are younger than I am and I really don't understand their issues.

If you need any information please let me know and I will see what I can pass on to you if you could share the same. To be honest I am really interested in the Bennett side more than the Bean as I know my late Gran, being a wonderful woman and teacher would expect someone to know the Bennett history. I know that there is a Bennett descendent in Australia as well as possibility that there may be some Bean's there descended from Rollo Bean who basically left South Africa because of his brother Leo, father to Montague Bennett Orlando and Gustavus George, recently deceased of cancer. I have a bit of a blog on Genebase.com with my most recent family members as well as my mother's side and my late husband's who was a Hayes from Co Antrim born in Ballycastle who came to SA in 1970. My father Montague Bennett Orlando passed 6 years ago aged almost 87. Where are you from?
