Genealogy Tip When Hanging Photos

Posted on July 10, 2009 at 2:38pm 1 Comment

This spring I made a new wall arrangement of photographs. I used scanned copies instead of originals and made 2 photos at the same time. I then glued/taped/however the same photo on the back that was on the front. I added names to the one on the back so the names would always be handy. Some I put on the front but the back photo I was able to write right on the person's image so there was no dispute which one was Granny or Auntie!

Late night photo editing - Ah, this is the life!  We took a break, but have slowly been working on getting the website back up to par and everything running again.  We're in the middle of going through Granny's scrap books, I think she pencilled in 1925 for this little clipping, no idea which paper but it immediately made me think of you!

Thought maybe you'd appreciate a copy :)  Hope you're doing well!

Hey Brenda, I'm just getting used to this site, I hadn't realized you'd written! I don't have the history of Vaughan book, no... But I have to admit, I'm really spoiled. I have a few living history books like my Dad and Uncles – I even have a great uncle who’s still with us - that I can still tap whenever I have a question. Who produced it? I might have to see about getting a copy. I think we have something about Maple, about it’s history. We might actually have a copy at my parents place, we have a few books, hand written histories and a few old bibles – Those are at my cousin’s place, made of wood and horse hair binding I’m scared they’ll fall apart... The Keffers up here have been super good about holding onto family history. I hear there's a museum in Vaughan somewhere now too, I have a link around here somewhere. You know you’re welcome to come up to the Reunion! It’s like a barn raising without all the hard work, I’m hoping my Dad or Aunt makes lemon meringue pies… They’re to die for!
We also have access to the Lutheran Church here, our Keffers are Founding Fathers all over the place. Really, we have way too much information and not enough time. This winter we’re going to play catch up until everything’s posted on our site. Look forward to talking more!

I've found information for the surnames Lincoln, McNaughton, Hunter and Hall. Those are the names I'm researching in Michigan (mostly Mecosta county). I'm also researching Goodrich (in Ingham). There's a long list of others for other locations. Don't worry about being nosy. It's nice to have a place to go to talk about genealogy with others. Most of my friends and family think my hobby is a little nutty. What surnames are you researching in Michigan?
