Bailey, CSA Capt Peyton Randolph & wife Maggie photo - Texas

CSA Capt. Peyton Randolph Bailey was 1st Lieutenant, was captured on the first day of the famous battle of Gettysburg and held a prisoner on Johnson's Island for 18 months. They were in the Railroad cut. It is thought on the first day of battle. The 2nd Mississippi fought the Iron Brigade at a place called the Railroad Cut. That's where the 2nd Mississippi lost its colors and most of the men were captured. Not certain if his brothers were with him. Their names were John W. Bailey and Charles Manley Bailey.
