Joseph Dernier Kearney

Joseph Dernier Kearney is my maternal grandfather. His birth mother left him in the vestibule of the New York Foundling Hospital shortly after his birth in 1892. We believe hers was an act of great love. Joseph traveled at the age of three to Missouri on an Orphan Train, where he would be fostered by an older Irish-American couple. He would eventually adopt their surname - Kearney.
