The GenealogyWise Chat Room serves two
purposes, one is to provide a place for members to network, ask
questions, receive and give genealogical help. GW Member Dawn says
of the Chat Room, “The people in the Chat Room are always willing
and able to help you. We pool our resources and work together on
helping people find that elusive ancestor and we have fun doing it
too!” .
The second purpose of the Chat Room is to provide educational,
scheduled chats where members can learn about different topics from
our Chat Hosts. You can find the chat schedule under the ‘Chat’
link on the GenealogyWise homepage. We ask that during schedule
chats, that members not post comments until after the conclusion of
the chat. .
The GenealogyWise Chat Room can be accessed two ways. One is by
clicking on the gray bar at the bottom of your screen, when you are
signed into GenealogyWise. You can also access the room by clicking
on the ‘Chat’ link at the top toolbar on GenealogyWise.
You can also chat one to one, privately with a member by finding
their profile picture on the right hand side of the Chat Room.
Click on their name and then click on ‘Private Chat.’ This is a
good option in cases where someone is helping you with some
research and you don’t want to give out private information in the
public Chat Room.
Whether you chat publicly with other members, attend a scheduled
chat or chat privately with a genealogy friend, the GenealogyWise
Chat Room is there to help you network and stay informed.

One Way to Magnify Pages
One of the problems I know some of our
members are having is with the size of the font in our GW Chat
Room. Unfortunately, we cannot enlarge the font size because it is
an application that Ning, the platform we use, provides us and it
cannot be changed. We are looking into other options for a new Chat
Room.
One idea that may work for you when searching any site on the
internet, including our Chat Room, is a computer mouse that Chat
Host, Jayne McCormick told me about.
You can check it out at
http://tinyurl.com/lc7vnl. The
website describes it as, “Plug in the compact receiver when you’re
ready to work, then snap it into your mouse when you travel, saving
hassle and battery life. Easily enlarge and edit details with the
new Magnifier and scroll four ways with the innovative 4-Way
Scrolling.”
Jayne says that she has one for her PC, laptop, and mini laptop. “
I really love it. Nice size for my hand also.”
