Tracey - I'd love to exchange notes. I too was born into the Wardill family and am creating a book on the family tree to pass onto my grandchildren. I have one or two queries, one is that you mention you have seen the painting by Michael Wardill (1838) but I was led to believe that the original painting was lost and an artist in the 1990s painted a copy from a photograph. I wonder, do you know the whereabouts of the original? Sue D

Tracey - Great to hear from you.

I am the daughter of Alan Wardill, son of Charles Herbert Wardill, son of Francis Wardill, son of Herbert Wardill, son of Michael Wardill etc. I was born in Bridlington but moved to Hull when I was 10.

Are you aware of the website www.wardill.org In it they claim the original painting was lost and an artist in the 1990s reproduced the painting from a photo of the original.
