I've been researching for 15 years, so I have a lot. My major families of concern right now are Gatton (OH); Baker, Hottel and Longanecker in VA; Clements, Oliver, and Houchins in VA; Wells in MD; Berryman, Buckalew, Clawson, Stockton in NJ, Cooper in IN.

    The 1855 Illinois census is in the same format as earlier US ones. It only lists David Skeeters (60-70), a female (60-70) and a young female (10-20), presumably a grandchild or other family or perhaps a servant. James Skeeters along with sons Willis and Greenberry remained in Iroquois County until their deaths. I have also found a Land Patent for David Skeeters in Iroquois County. One was cancelled in 1854; the other (76 acres) was issued April 3, 1861. I was really intrigued when I first read your info. My mother's name is Catherine (Skeeters) Turner!!

    Are you in contact with Sally Skeeters? I saw her picture of the 1902 Skeeters reunion. I have pictures of my g grandfather that looks so much like those mustachioed gentlemen.
