Thank you so much for this information. I appreciate it very much. I was not sure I was on the right track with her parents, but now I know that I am. This is very much appreciated.

  • Darlene Ford

No we do not have his. My boyfriend and I have been gone today. So I have not had the chance to get on the site to check for it. You have been great in helping like this. Thank you so much. I, too try to help others in their searches. I figure that if I help someone then someone will be along to help me. Genealogy is so much fun and so interesting. I love history.
  • Bob Mooney-Pa

It looks like there was quite a few Ferrells living near the Browns when Harriet moved back after being married to Mathew. Check out he 1870 census for James Brown/ Boone County/ Didn't know if you had seen it yet
  • Jennifer Eklund, PLCGS

Hi Patsy. Yes, my Bobbit line came from Illinois and Kentucky. Looking forward to hearing what you have found. My days on GW have become limited since I am beginning grad school and my children's homeschool year on Tuesday. With part time work on top of that...oye!
  • Jennifer Eklund, PLCGS

Thank you Patsy. I have actually seen that link before, but so appreciate all of your help. I am just swamped right now with homeschool, grad school, and work. Geesh! I hope to see you Saturday at the Educational Opportunities Chat at 4pm Pacific time.
  • Debbie Levine

Patsy, sorry that it took so long to get back with you about my patroit, James Gheen. What do you need?
  • Dianne Welch

Hey patsy hows it going? looks like you've been busy. LOL It's so nice of you to help people. I saw the DAR Rep. on Saturday. She gave me a list of things I need, but their things I have been looking for, maybe not in the right places. Brice Welsh -Welch Susan dixon marriage abt. 1872, most likely in monongalia County. will try and look there again. and the death certificate of Brice Welsh- Welch. for him I do have REGISTER OF DEATH. S.B. WELCH. Tells when he died Jan. 9, 1891 or 92, what from, Grantsville, Calhoun County, but no parents or relatives. He's there with a list of other deaths. Across the paper is stamped NOT FOR LEGAL USE. The DAR won't accept that. Tried Vital Records no success. Any suggestions. Dianne
  • Dianne Welch

He is listed as SB Welch, although his name is Squire Brice Welsh, Death Jan.9 1891 or 92 they did a correction on the year which made it unreadable. I'm thinking since it was Jan. they weren't use to writing 92 yet. He married abt.1872 pretty sure he used the name Welch, because he was a Confederate Veteran. I think he changed the spelling to try and distance himself from it. In 1875 he moved to Calhoun County which was pro southern. Marion County being a Union County was probably not friendly to him. His wife was Susan -Susanna Dixon. He was in Monongahelia County living around that time. Everyone doing genealogy on him thinks they were married in Monongalia County.
  • Dianne Welch

Yes i go on facebook sometime, but have been busy with this lately. I was wanting to go on heirtage to see if I could find a connection from Nancy Welsh and Asa[h Colegate. trying everything. Dianne
  • Dianne Welch

The papers I have on Brice in the confederacy, have no family listed. did you find Regisrery of death like I did. DAR won't accept that. Dianne
  • David Wesley Benner

  • Susi (Susan C Jones) Pentico

Patsy yes the last name is FLORA and Dee has the data we have been tracking her for over four years. Her husband was a minister but they divorced. We find data on him but not her. Still suspect adopted or MOM remarried or she was previously married. Dee has the death Certificate I think. ddanne40@cox.net

Please contact her and she can give full data.

Hi Patsy, what parts of Ohio are you interested in? ~Gail, Ohio
  • Dianne Welch

Hey girl, I'm confused on this end. There are two { I think} Joshua Stackhouse's. On GenCircles it has Jacob Stackhouse as his father and Nancy Cartwell as his mother. On Linda Armstrong's site on GC.On the census hasfather unknown. Jacob birth Ohio died in monroe Co. ohio married in monroe.1818 thats right across the river from Wheeling. dianne
  • Dianne Welch

I found out that Isaac has 4 applications for patriot, and figured they should contain info on joshua and Jacob if they are related on that new opened DAR site. I couldn't figure out that DAR website to find that info. on Isaac. The application should tell who his son and grandsons were. Every thing I found on joshua has parents unknown. Maybe the Joshua that was born in Clinton, Ohio in 1845 is the relative of Isaac. My joshua was born in 1825.
  • Roberta Baum

Hello: I am originally from WV and would appreciate obits on Robert Washington Elder, Sr. & Jr. from Ritchie Co. Robert, Sr., died in 1934; Robert, Jr., 1924. Also, and these are old ones, William Daniel Thomas who died in 1897 and Etta May Gorrell Thomas who died in 1899. They lived in Mole Hill, Ritchie, WV., and are my greatgrandparents. Thanks for anything you can do. I've been searching for these for quite a while. Roberta Baum
  • Dianne Welch

Patsy in the Ohio group in the south west ohio found Joshua and his wife ellen jane spencer buried in Clinton county cemetery. Ancestry has these 2 Joshua's mixed together. They have my joshua being born in Clinton Co. and dying in Wetzel Co. WV. My joshua born in Monroe co. Checked the 1880 cenus for and it asks where parents were born and it's blank. Dianne
  • Dianne Welch

we're right on with George and Joshua and Mary McFarland the problem is no father for Joshua to tie him in with Isaac. I can't find a father for Joshua. The 1850 census is blank where it asks where Joshua's father and mother were born. Mary's are from Ireland. Dianne
  • Dianne Welch

On George's death certificate where it has where were parents born it says unknown. I still can't find who his father is to connect him to Isaac. I know it has to be somewhere. I just don't have the experience to know where to look. I tried the DAR site. I was lost on that. Dianne

According to a December 17, 2009 article appearing in The Charleston Gazette, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History's Archives and History Section recently upgraded the server to its free, online searchable database. As a result, the more than 5 million birth, death and marriage certificates issued in West Virginia are now easier to access online.

Can you give me any dates on these people and where in York Co they may have lived? Also any siblings would be helpful
  • Helen Curtis

My family mostly is from Braxton, Clay, and Nicholas Counties, WV
  • Leah

    Hi Patsy,
Thank you so much for your offer to help! For my female Patriot, I have her obituary which mentions her service, would that be enough proof of service for her? Her service is mentioned in other articles and biographies but the obituary is the most "official" proof I can find. Someone told me that DAR was planning a book on female Patriots and that she might be in it, though I don't really know who to contact to ask about that (genealogy@dar.org?). For Moses, I have service records but am having a heck of a time tying them to his family (he didn't file a pension). He also signed a paper in support of the American cause so I could also try and go down that route with him... Anyway, thanks again for any help you can give, I appreciate it.
  • Ashley Mullins

Hi Patsy... I am wondering if it is Paris Baisden and Rachel Brumfield that you have in your line... and if so, what kind of info you have on the two of them!?!? If you could let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
  • Jim Avery

    See what?
  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

well I wrote a really long messgae and it just disapeared out of nowhere...

What would you like to know about the Smiths of Cabell/Wayne County Virginia (West Virginia)
  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

yes I have what would you like to know about him?

He is in the 1840 Census of Cabell and the 1850 Census of Cabell he married Asinith in either 1826 or 1826 in Cabell

in the 1840 census he has an old man living with him 60-70 years old

is that the peter you are talking about?
  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

Do you know of any Living Direct Male Descendants of your Peter Smith? If you do. It would be awesome if they gave a sample of their Y-DNA to Family Tree DNA.
  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

oh yeah and Peter is in the 1860 census of cabell county too.

theres a couple family trees out there that dont really have any proof that say his fathers name is John Smith born about 1768

But they doesnt match with the 1840 census for an old man living with him being 60-70 years old

    1840-70=1770

close... depending on who gave the info huh?
  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

It would be really nice if you now anyone (a direct male descendant) of Peter Smith that is willing to take a DNA test.

theres a couple different Peters in Virginia some from Montgomery County (Botetourt area) North East Montgomery by Franklin County was a Peter Smith

I think that Jacob Smith that Married Elizabeth Harless had either a DAD or a son Named peter or maybe both.

I know that Jacob Smith who married Eva Shilling he had a Dad supposedly named Peter Smith.

I know that it has been suggested and sometimes we wonder about Peter Smith because there is a Peter Smith that lives practically in the same land as my Jacob Smith possible his brother or Father.

also Henry Smith had a son named Peter.

I am a direct male descendant of Peters Brother Jacob Marion Smith I have taken a DNA test.

Also Jacob Marion Smiths son James Buchannan married Cinderella daughter of Peter. (But not your Peter)

    I wonder though.

Is your Peter related to my peter?

also your Peter is in the Library of Virginia Land Deeds for Cabell County i think

Also your Peter Smith is in the Lambert Files but I dont know if he talks any about his family or is just in the transcribed portion of the census...
  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

Hi this is the Will where Jesse of Cabell County is with two brothers

  • Tyson Douglas Smith II

Yes if your brother is a Direct Male Descendant of Peter he is the one to do the test.

    There are currently

    14 Smith Families from Kentucky
    6 Smith Families from Ohio
50+ Smith Families from Virginia/West Virginia

    that have tested.

So even if your Smiths arent related to mine well be sure to find ones you are related to and be able to direct you in the right path at least.

these are all the families that are a part of the Southern Smiths DNA project
