I don't know if you remember but I contacted you last year about family members that cross into both of our trees, Maude Lorene (Cann) Lucas daughter of Lavinia Maude (McClanahan) Cann...just to name a few. During some more of my research it brought me back to your Rootweb page. You show a Mary Haley married to a Steve Rice but you don't have much info for him. I believe he is my g-g-grandfather Steven Andrew Rice. Funny thing is I have his 2nd wife listed as Mary F but I couldn't come up with any other info for her and it seems you may be filling that in! I contacted the Bracken Co Historial society and they informed me that buried next to Steven was Mary and verified death date for her and it appears our Mary's are one in the same. I have more info if you would like to have it for Steven and other family members.

Are you any relation to Nimrod Workman? There is a song by him on You Tube called 42 Years.  Found it while looking for Hazel Dickens music. Here is a link to Mr. Workman's song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPvHo1EA7gA&feature=related

    Hello Charles,

I'm researching my Smith line and I know it's a long shot but perhaps we might have a connection.  My gg grandfather was Thomas Wesley Smith.  In one census he went by Wesley Smith.  I can't find him prior to his marriage to my gg grandmother, Sarah Josephine Roberts.  Thomas was born in 1832 in Illinois.  His father was born in Indiana.  His future father-in-law, Peter Henry Roberts, was a resident of Indiana and the story goes that he was on a trip to Illinois and met a widower with two children, Thomas Wesley Smith.  He brought him home to Indiana for a visit where he met and and became engaged to Peter's daughter, Sarah J. Roberts (they married later in Coles, IL).  Before they married Thomas wanted to try his hand in the gold fields of California and I did find him there in the 1850 census with a George Smith.  I believe that he also had a brother named Newton Smith as they lived close together at times and they both used some unusually similar names in their families.  Thomas and Sarah had the following children:  Berlin A., Floyd Newton, Elledge R., James Washington, Phillip E., Ella May, Lucretia Jane (my g grandmother), and Carrie Nevada.  They ended up in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where Lucretia met a young Swedish man named Charles H. Hanson (my g grandfather).  Eventually the family moved to Caldwell, Idaho.

I had to at least give it a shot!  Let me know if you have ever heard of any of this bunch!
