Robert Walker was not actually my ancestor but he was a business partner of my ggg grandfather, Daniel Anderson, in Petersburg. The other partner was Archibald Gracie of New York, builder of the Gracie Mansion, now home to NYC mayors. So Walker is really a collateral line I'm investigating to try to get more information on my Anderson ancestor.

I have lived in the Thaxton area of VA all my life with the exception of 2 years. My descendents are: ORANGE, CARTER, DOOLEY, PARKER, OVERSTREET, CREASY, CREASEY, also looking for my husband's ancestors: BURWELL, NEELY. I'm looking for any information about these families. If you're looking for your ancestors from my area I may be able to help you.
Cindy-did your husband by any chance have a Hannah Neely in the early 1800s? One of my Dobkins men-Hugh Dobkins married Hannah Neely. The name is not all that common-plenty of Neals, but not too many Neely/Neeleys.
Hi Carol...I'm not sure if my hubby is related to Hannah. My mother-in-law said most of her Neely relatives are from West Virginia. I am hoping someone can help me find more information. My husband's grandmother's name was Frankie Ruth Neely.
I'm looking for information on Stephen Burwell from Gills Creek, Franklin County Virginia. I have found him on the U.S Census but there is a gap in the years. He had a son John L. Burwell, who is my husband's great grandfather. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.
Does anyone have any information of Joseph Ruff? He was born abt 1774 in Bedford County, VA. His partner was Catherine (Catey) Boblett from Pennsylvania. They had 3 children together, James b. abt 1805, David b. abt 1807, and Nancy.

Hi all,
I am searching for information on an Allan Campbell b. @ 1685 and emmigrated to Virginia in 1721. He was to have come from Loch Carron in the northwest Highlands near the island of Skye. And he was to have left a large estate located in the Parrish of Ardchattan which included territory on the mainland of Argyshire. Why he left Scotland is not known as he left a large estate and his wife, four sons and two daughters. I have found no trace of him and am beginning to think this connection is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hello Everyone--new to Genealogy Wise today. I am looking for information on Thomas Shepherd, born 1705 in Maryland, but lived most of his life and died in Shepherdstown, Jefferson County, Virginia. He also lived in Mecklenburg, Frederick County, VA. He married Elizabeth Van Meter in 1733 in Frederick, Somerset County, VA, and they had ten children. Daughter Elizabeth Shepherd married William Brown and their daughter Elizabeth Brown married William Robert Hulse. Then the family started moving to Ohio. Does anyone have any information on any of these families: Shepherd, Brown, Hulse? Thanks for your help

Is WILLIAMS her maiden name? I looked on Ancestry.Com, but nothing showed up with the name you listed.
My maternal grandmother was also a Williams. I am doing that family history. I saw where some of them were in Richmond, VA, after coming over from London, England. I do have a CATHERINE WILLIAMS b. abt 1606, in London, England, listed in my history. I guess that was a common name.

Laura, my nephew's mother was SHIRLEY HAGA, b. 1939. I think her father, ROBY HAGA, b. 1900, was originally from Grayson County, VA. They moved to Smyth County, VA years ago, maybe around 1950. Does this name mean anything to you?
Sally
Sally, I have a possibility -- Robert Dewey Haga, b 13 Jun 1898, d 11 Aug 1963 in Orlando, FL, bur in Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Grayson Co., VA, md Nannie Hash 1900-1980. He was s/o James Haga 1972-1893 and Rosa Hash. His siblings were Cebert, Eli, Mattie Lee, and Vance. I have no dates for them. I have seen the name Roby Haga discussed on the Grayson Heritage list, or the New River Notes list. BTW, James was the s/o Henry Haga and Margaret Delp. More info available on my Ancestry.com tree or contact me at LAlsdorf @ aol.com
Thanks, Laura. I will email you. These are the right people. I remember the names Cebert, Eli, Mattie & Vance, as being siblings of Roby.
Thank you very much!
I am searching for information regarding Jesse R. Barnett. In the census records, it shows his place of birth as Virginia. He was born in possibly early 1800's. His wife is listed as Docia. The only other information I have found for Jesse R. Barnett is that he died in 1847 in Buchanan County Missouri. I cannot locate a death record, burial place or any other information. He had four children that I have found in the census records. Basha 1827, VA, Zachia 1829, NC, Hanna 1831, MO and my 2nd great grandfather Jesse born in 1838 in MO and he was married Lillie Pritchett. I am looking for information for Jesse R. and who his parents may have been. Any help making a connection would be greatly appreciated! I have run into a brick wall and cannot seem to get past it. Thanks!
