Welcome to the Wales and Welsh Genealogy Group. This is a group focused on Welsh Genealogy and other topics related to genealogy in Wales (map). My Irish born great-grandparents, Daniel and Catherine MacNamara came to Monmouthshire, Wales sometime before 1854. Daniel started out in the iron mills at Tredegar and eventually went into the coal mines. Daniel and Catherine had 10 children in Wales living in and around New Tredegar for more than 25 years. All of the sons also became coal miners. About 1881, the family shortened the surname to Mack and all subsequent generations in Wales and the United States went by Mack. My grandfather, Matthew came to the States in 1904 and settled in Washington County, Pennsylvania.

Searching focuses on the surnames of Yale and Lloyd. Descended from Thomas Yale b. abt 1618 in Chester and died 1683 in New Haven, Connecticut. His father was from Plas Grono area.
