I have traced Edward MORGAN b. 1787 England, married Sarah DEAN, their first born Thomas b. 1816 England, second born Sarah b. 1818.  They emigrated to America about 1822, thru Port of Philadelphia, after a few years in PA, moved to Preble Co, OH, then onto Oregon.

Edwards second wife is Mary SHIRLEY. Their son Benjamin Franklin MORGAN is my second great grandfather, his daughter Lucinda Mae (nee)Morgan WILLIAMS is my great grandmother and Ruby Mae (nee) Williams EDMONDSON is my grandmother.  If any of this sounds familiar please let me know.  I do have a nice book on this MORGAN line.

I really am not sure that our Morgan surname is from Wales, the DNA connected to these surnames have matches. I know the Edmondsons claimed to be Welch. By the way, originally from Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner area, what a coincidence. Henry Edmunson claims to have been born in Vermont 1806, and holds true throughout all census until his death in 1890, his son Charles Henry Edmunson b 1844 Toronto Canada, his son Robert Marion Edmondson b 1879 Lincoln Nebraska, his son Richard Edmondson b 1921 Banks Oregon, his son Robert Marion Edmondson b. 1954 Frankfurt Germany, d. 2010.. If you have any DNA results I would be glad to look into the possible matches, it sure does cut to the chase when it is a factual blood line. I have studied a great deal on the Scots and have not found too much to prove the lineage so I will pursue the Welch and Irish possibilities.
Cheers, Beth

Where in Wales does your Morgan line hail from?

Hello, I have always been told thru the Aunts and Uncles, which would number 18 that the Edmondson line of our family were of Welch descent. My brother Bobby has done a DNA and results are posted on Ancestry.com and ftdna.com. His Kit# is 44201. The DNA results mostly pinpoints our line in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England.....The surnames involved are:

EDMONDSON,EDMUNDSON,EDMISTON, BOON, TAYLOR, JONES, JOHNSON, MORGAN,MCALPIN, MCALPINE, PARKER, MILLS, GRANT, THORNTON

Hi All,

My link to wales comes via the Gunter name of the Brecons. My great grandmother was Minnie Matilda May Gunter..I have traced her line back to origin of the name..around 1055.
Gunter family seat for some 500+ years was Gunterstone..now called Tregunter?..Minnie is on my mothers side.
