I am new to the group. My Jewish heritage includes NELSON ancestors who came from Emmendingen in Baden, Germany. NELSON does not sound like a very Jewish (or German) name, but this is the surname they took when Jewish families were required to adopt common surnames. I am also involved in helping friends research their LIPPERT ancestors from Niesky in Sachsen.
I been working on my family history from the oldest reference to present, when i found a dna research.
I found out i have Hebrew dna, EM35 in sub group eL117. I have the same dna as the Levy family.
As far as the Dna i belong to the berbers who are a jewish tribe that lived in northen africa and migrated to spain were we mix with the natives r1b Barque / Irish and the J2 Northen jerusalem Palestine/Hebrew families.
The berber jews havebeen refere to as Sephardic / Spanish , And Bohemian / Germany
I started researching my surname and noticed that my early ancestors were from Portugal and Lepe Spain. Reading ,reading and reading I began to notice alot of Conversos, and the word crypto -jew. Just wanted to say hola to all!!! Interested in anyone from Lampazos Nuevo Leon or Portugal. I traced my familia to Gaspar Castaño de Sosa and Marcos Alonzo de Alcor. I don't know what to make of this but I AM interested in any if any information!
