Preston is in Yorkshire and your ancester was born during the reign of Elizabeth I. Cowes on the Isle of Wight is right at the bottom of England just off Southampton in the Solent.

I'm a descendant of Thomas Park and wife Abigail Nesbit (my 4 x gr-grandparents) who settled in Bradford County, PA abt 1786. My grandfather did a lot of research on the family and I am lucky to have inheirited the "Genealogy Gene".

should add the name Parker - which could be the start of Parke - Park - or Parkes mis-spelled/mis-read during the census

I have been tracing descendants of William Parke (c. 1754-1803) and wife Mary Bowlby of Lebanon Township, Hunterdon Co. NJ. Their 6 children (John, David, Abner, Sarah, Rebecca and Maria) were all connected as victims or witnesses to the murders of the Castner family of Changewater (Warren County, NJ) in 1843. Some of these Parke descendants moved to Ohio, Indiana and Iowa. I will check my files if you suspect you have someone from this line.
