I am searching for Patrick Ransom Cross, I believe born around 1935 and I am told possibly in Los Angeles, CA, he was married in Oklahoma in the 1960's and had a son in 1963, possibly named Patrick as well. I am told his father was a builder in TX and possibly also named Patrick. Do you have any information on the Crosses in Texas and Oklahoma?
Thank you for any information on my family that you can offer.

Just curious, do you know somewhere where I can find literature on Jessie Cross and his accomplishments? It seems to be a big name (at least as far as Cross' are concerned). And just to be clear, you think Thomas J. Cross was the brother to Jessie? I have Thomas J. Cross going from Georgia, then through Tallapoosa, and I find his daughter in Jefferson County in 1900. Of course TJC was in Arkansas by then

I have some bible pages in my possession that have Thomas Cross as the father of Monroe, but nothing before that. Through Ancestry I talked with a few others about the Jesse/Thomas issue. It seems like the whole extended Cross family left Georgia, stayed for a bit, and then left for Texas. I've always wondered why they moved so much, most likely for land, but maybe there's something else I'm missing?

James, you have hit on a touchy subject. Most of my reserach on the Cross line (once I get out of Texas and back to GA), comes from Sharon Sukiennik. She has spent years researching this family and has gathered notes and letters from family members still in GA. You can see her research here:
DOVER-CROSS

Now the issue comes in that she is convinced that Thomas Jefferson is NOT the child of Jesse Cross & Celia Dover, however, I have had exchange on GenForum with a lady who thinks otherwise. She is adamant in her belief that Thomas Jefferson IS the son of Jesse Cross. I am guessing an older brother to my William Stephen Cross. She offers no documentation other than a reference to a bible record on the net. You can see why I am reluctant to change my lineage, however, I am open to the possibility that Thomas is my ancestor's brother, therefore the answer to your brickwall would be Jesse Cross and Celia Dover IF we could find this bible record. You can follow my exchange with her on GenForum, but it got a bit testy at the end.

Well, I'm an offshoot of Nancy Angeline Cross, daughter of Monroe Clinton Cross, and the son of Thomas Jefferson Cross. My brick wall is his father, who is apparently Thomas Cross as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Barbara

Any one searching for CROSS is welcome. So far, just more Americans have joined. Perhaps you can invite someone you know who is researching CROSS on your side of the pond.

Oh dear all the CROSS interest here seems to be USA based. Mine are firmly of UK origin but I'll tell you about then anyway.
My gg grandmother was Ann Elizabeth CROSS. She was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1830 and married Thomas SHARP there in 1849. Her parents may have been JOhn CROSS and Mary JILSON but I need more evidence to confirm this link.
