Looking to confirm parents of Hubbel Allen born 23 Nov 1820 in either NY or Vt I think that it was Rufus and Deborah Eldridge Allen, Hubbel Allen died 16 Jan 1866 He was my great grandfather.

Hi,

Reply to Michael - I may have a Maria Allen that ties in.  I have only started researching so information is minimal, but my great grandmother was Maria Allen who was born in Carlow around 1861. According to the 1901 irish census forms there were very few Allens in Carlow around that time, which is why I'm thinking there may be a connection.

My Allen Line is as follows:

Hector Allen born abt 1864 in New York He was married to Mary Bullet birth unk, they had Florence Mae Allen  born Aug 3, 1885. Florence married Arthur G. Harriman Jr. and they had six(6) children that I know of. Then Florence had my father with a "Smith" four years after her husband died. I don't think they(Arthur and Florence) married.

I am looking for more information about Emily (Emma) Allen and her father Thomas Norris Allen.
Emma was b. May 18, 1857 in Blount Co, TN died Dec 17, 1928 in Florence Kansas. Thomas was buried in Chase Co, Ks and is said to be of the Society of Friends. I have found much about Thomas' wife's family Elizabeth Morgan, but nothing about Thomas. Elizabeth's family was Quaker, lots of Quakers! Thomas was born abt 1811, died 1875. His wife Elizabeth was the daughter of William H. Morgan and Catherine Peck.
Thomas' daughter, Emma (Emily) was married to Joseph Hughes Riggs.

Larry, my Grandfather and Great Grandfather(who have both passed) were bricklayers/stone masons and it makes sense that they may have learned their trade from their fathers. I've found a baptism record that looks like it links my line back to Hertfordshire as well. I wonder if there is any relation. Check out my post under Allen brick walls for more info.

HI, my interest in the surname ALLEN, starts with my gg grandmother Lena Rivers ALLEN who married my gg grandfather Frank T LORENTZ. Lena was born December 1862 in Tennessee and died 1927 in Park Springs, Wise Co, TX and buried in Sunset Beasley Cemetery, Montague Co, TX.

The ONLY thing I know of her family backwards in time for her is that her mother was possibly Sarah CLEVENGER. We do not know if that is her mothers name before or after she married or if she married a second time.

I believe she married a second time. However I cannot find an Allen / Clevenger marriage record in TN or TX that would match anything.

Story is that she was married to an ALLEN who was killed in the CW and she remarried. Lena would have been born just at the time of the CW starting or thereabouts.

My earliest census record for her is the 1880 Dallas Co, TX census records, and she and Frank are married and living with a NASH family. I cannot find any connection to this NASH family at this time. A couple of their children later are named after the Nash children, however.

I am clueless after this.

Frank T Lorentz was b in Frederick Co, MD and I do not know how he came to be in TX, or exactly when, but it was after the 1870 MD census.

Sincerely

Carolyn

Hi. I am researching the ALLEN family. My husbands Mother`s Maiden name is ALLEN. Her Mother was Claire Lucille ALLEN, we do not know who her Father is, she was raised by her Maternal Grandparents and took their surname. I believe they legally adopted her although I have yet to prove that fact. Their names were Granderson Edgar ALLEN and Alma Ruby DAPPER, they lived in Litchfield, Pana, Illinois area and are buried in Chicago. Grandersons parents were Elbert Granderson ALLEN and Claire Belle HASKINS-ALLEN. I can go back a bit further. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is researching this particular line of the ALLEN family.

Florence married Arthur Granville Harriman ll and while married to him she had a brief affair with a Mr.? Smith and so begat my father, Harry Douglas Smith. I am having a little trouble finding the correct lineage here. Any help would be greatfull.
