My Powells were in Jones County, GA, early to mid-1800s. Caroline Powell (b 1848) m. Andrew Jackson Whitehurst in 1866. Her father was John Powell Jr. (b1810 in VA) and his  father, John Sr born in VA.  Would love to know if this is true nor if it's just pooled Ancestry.com ignorance...  Of course, we all have a "family story" of Native American heritage, and mine was that my grandfather's grandmother was NA.  This was way before we stared looking and didn't even know names--but when I did look, there was Caroline Powell, right in the correct spot...  Can help but notice the strong NA "Powell" names in our history--any ideas?  Thanks!

Hello all, my great grandmother Kittie M Powell,  was born Sep 13, 1875 and died Dec 28, 1953. She married Elias Milton Harrington and resided in Robeson county their entire life. They had five children one of which my grandmother (Ellen) who married into the Andrews. Anyway, i have hit a wall when it comes to the Powell side of the search after her.  I found some info that her parents names might have been Ailey Stanley and Nicklos(?) Powell.

Greetings everyone. My name is David McKeown and I am researching my Powell family. I am looking for information that relates specifically to Archibald Powell(1763-1836)who married Sarah Ten Broeck(1766-1855) around 1792. I have had reasonable success tracing data up to Archibald but beyond him is a blank. I am fairly confident he traces back to the "Long Island'' Powell's but am missing that link. Any help would be appreciated. Again for clarity below is a brief overview

Archibald Powell/Sarah Ten Broeck

AbramT Powell/Sarah Field

Joseph Powell/Lucinda Hosner

Fred Cecil Powell/Grace Arnold

ElizabethPowell/John Morony

Mary Morony/ Donald McKeown

David McKeown (ME)

Thank You!

David
