My grandfather, Edward Yonge Wootten of Wilmington, N.C., descended Capt. Philip Yonge, Loyalist, H.M. Surveyor-General of Georgia; son of the Hon. Henry Yonge, Sr., Loyalist, H.M. Surveyor-General of Georgia, the son of the Hon. Francis Yonge, Lord Proprietors Surveyor-General of the Bahamas, Carolinas, and Georgia. Philip's brother was Maj. Henry Yonge, Jr., H.M. Attorney-General of British East Florida who as such, annulled the indentures of 1,000 New Smyrna Beach, Florida, "Menorcans". His plantation is now the own of Ormond, Florida.
