Seeking info on my gg grandfather (John Hale). He was possibly born 1808-1820 in one of these Viginia counties; Grayson, Washington, or Wythe. He is show in the 1850 census for Perry County, KY with his wife Sally (Sarha Fawbush, born about 1822 in Sullivan County, TN), and the 1860 census for Magoffin County, KY. His son William was born about1842 in Russel County, Virginia. Thanks for any help.

Since John sort of raised the issue, has any one else noticed that we seem to have had a lot of Y-DNA mutations for folks that can't be much more than 8 - 10 generations from one another? Just how high is the background radiation level in East Tennessee?

I also find it difficult to find a match.My closest dna match is a Burgess who's ancestor was an fathered by a Hale from Virginia.

I believe the DNA testing is the best way to qualify your line to the Nicholas II tree. But, it may be difficult to find the exact matches in the tree, as I am finding in my research.

Kimberly, I have an Elijah Milsap Hale unsure of dob and born around Blount County but not sure what county exactly.He is the son of Alexander Hale and Sarah Billingsly.He is in the Nicholas Hale line as the great great grandson of Nicholas the second and Frances Garrett.This Elijah appears to have been born abt 1789.

New member of the group here. I'm not sure if Nicholas is in our family or not. Hale was the surname of my great-grandmother. Unfortunately, her great-grandfather is as far as I can get into the family. My Hale line goes like this:

He may have had a relative (nephew?) named Isham Hale, who named his own son Elijah (b. 1847 in TN, d. abt 1901 in Missouri).

I ordered records listed with Native Daughters of the Golden West, one of them is a Carrick Hale, place of Birth, Calif. dob. 11-25-1855. He is listed as a Grocer in Napa county. Spouse, Mary P. Ball married 06- 16- 1880, also listed one child named Edna. Anybody have this Hale, I have seen a pix of Hale's Grocery in old pix from that area.

There are actually 2 Lewis Hale's on there. One is 12a and one is r1b1 something.I am a close match to the 12a Lewis.It is hard to get some of these Hale's that have had dna to get back with you when you write to them though to find out further info.

I found a Lewis Hale listed as the earliest known ancestor for one of the folks at the Hale DNA project at Familytree.DNA (http://www.familytreedna.com/public/hale/default.aspx?section=yresults)

He was a generation too early for your Lewis (Lewis Hale b:5 Jul 1794 Greene Co., TN), but he might be your Lewis' father or uncle.

The DNA profile does match our group. In fact, it's closer to the family mode than my own.
