Comment by Carole Ashbridge on October 15, 2012 at 4:39pm I am researching a family that has origins/events in Westmoreland, Allegheny, and possibly Armstrong or Washington Counties. I have a request for a Civil War pension payment from 1898. On the application, the soldier had to list a marriage. He wrote that he was married in Tarentum in 1846 and there is no license. He indicates that the marriage was recorded in probate courts in Allegheny County. In what group of probate records would this be recorded? It is not an estate or will. Would it somehow fall into Orphan's Court. Stumped as to where to look.

Comment by Marie Long on November 17, 2011 at 10:05am Bob the only information I have is that he was born in 1774, I do not know where.
1830 census has him as living in German Township in Fayette County PA.My grandmother lists his wife's name as Margaret nothing else. I don't even know how many children they had or if he was a farmer or worked in the mines. I would like to find something about Robert Murray/Murry.
Thanks for responding,
Marie
Comment by Bob Mooney-Pa on November 17, 2011 at 8:59am Marie...what other info on him do you have? DOB? Where in Fayette County did they live? His DOD?
The more info you can supply the easier it will be to help you.
Comment by Marie Long on November 17, 2011 at 8:23am I need help finding any information on my third great grandfather Robert Murray/Murry. They were in Fayette County Pennsylvania in 1840. His daughter Mary Murray/Murry married Jacob Smith 03 April 1832 in Fayette County.
It is believed Robert's wife name was Margaret but no proof. There is a Margaret Murray who died in Fayette County in 1850.
Any help would be appreciated.

Comment by Jim Walker on November 13, 2011 at 3:31pm Hello!
2 things.
Can anyone please tell me which county Sewickly is in? My Walkers were quite active there.
Also, if anyone lives in Sewickly, I was wondering if you might be willing to go into the family history museum they have there and take some digitals of the displays of the Walker products, posters etc in there please?
Thank you for your time.
Kind Regards,
Jim Walker and family

Comment by Bob Mooney-Pa on August 6, 2011 at 10:16am I am looking for any type of record for a Jonathan Williams. Before 1804 in SW Pa.
He could have lived somewhere around Wheeling Creek. What possible forts would have been in the area? Are there land records for that area? I know there was the Pa Land Office in that time. But didn't find anything online except reference to the office. No actual records.
Comment by Fred Close on April 17, 2011 at 11:51am I have a transcription of a court petition asking for a guardian to be named for children of a deceased father. The petition appears to have been filed in mid-1802 and states that it is Westmoreland county. The records that the county holds may or may not inclued either this date or type of record. I have written twice to the county asking if they have the document and they have not replied. Anyone have luck communicating with them??
